In a world where everything seems so fast-paced and chaotic, it’s essential to create inner peace, even the craziest of times. If you are working in an office and around people from nine to five, five days a week, you may struggle to maintain a calm that allows you to focus without distraction. Creating inner peace is an essential act of repetitive self-care. Every day you wake up, you must set your mind to be positive no matter what life throws your way. That may feel like a challenge when the second you get out of bed in the morning you have emails, phone calls, and text messages to reply to, or that dreaded meeting you wish you could push off.
When we focus on the things we don’t want or how we want things to be, we set ourselves up for frustration and disappointment. Rather than focusing on the negative, adjust your mind to be optimistic and say to yourself, “What if this does work out?” Mentally prepare yourself for good things each morning rather than start your day off on a negative and low vibration. Be aware of your thoughts, as well as who and what you surround yourself with.
De-clutter your living and workspace
Start with the first room you walk into when you enter the house. Get rid or organize any clutter you have piled up, or that feels messy. Move through the house and do this with each room. We spent our time either at home or at the office, and if you’re like me, you live where you work and work where you live, so it’s especially important to keep that space ultra clean and organized. The more clutter we keep around, the more anxiety we experience because piled-up clutter or too much stuff distracts us from our thoughts and take us out of our creative mindset. The mess around you creates a blockage internally and externally, and that is not something any of us want or need in our lives.
Spend time in nature
There is something about birds chirping and feeling the breeze on your face as you take a walk or hike outdoors. That woodsy aroma or the calming ocean air, they have a way of reminding us that everything is going to be okay. We don’t need to worry or stress about anything. We don’t need to regret or hold shame in our hearts because nature tells us time and time again that what falls can be replanted and rise to new heights, over and over again. Whenever a wave crashes and then rushes up the shore, it pauses and pulls back out only to form another wave, sometimes smaller or larger, and it brings with it new energy. Remember that when you’re having a tough day, just like the ocean waves, I can pause, go back and rebuild. Take an hour in the morning, afternoon, or around sunset to go on a nature walk alone or with a close friend. This is a therapeutic way to get in touch with yourself by being one with nature and soaking up all of its elements.
Be your true self in all that you say and do
Avoid mind and body altering substances such as drugs and alcohol so that you can maintain a sober perspective on life and your decision. Take time each evening to meditate and release any pen tup thoughts or stress you had from the day. This is a great way to allow your thoughts to come through clearly and to receive new ideas and clarity on a situation in your life.
Surround yourself with positive influences
Who we surround ourselves with plays a significant role in the choices we make and how we spend our time. If you want to experience the utmost amount of inner peace, it’s time to take a closer look at your circle. Who is at your table of advisors. Who are you spending time with, and how are they affecting your life. When you leave from spending time with someone, check to see how you feel. Do you feel drained? Hurt? Silenced? Bullied? Or do you feel empowered, listened to, cared for, and respected? It’s essential to be aware of how your body reacts to someone else’s presence. Don’t be afraid to have a strong filter on who you let in your life and who you set free.
Exercise regularly, at least once a day try to break a sweat
What better way to take care of your mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional well being than by working out? Exercise, whether it be running, swimming, yoga, weightlifting, hiking, dancing, or kick-boxing, always feels good to move! Shake off the negative energy, the pressure, and emotions; just let it all go and move around. This release will allow you to feel more at peace and help you sleep better, which is extremely important to maintain balanced hormones.
