Good Things Come to Those Who Work Hard

Anyone can tell you the simple truth that being lazy will get you nowhere in this world, but they might not tell you exactly how you can go about being more productive.  I’ve put together some fairly simple ideas that anyone can go by in order to be more productive in the work place (or anywhere for that matter). If you want to be successful, and you want to excel in any profession, you have to learn to be productive.

Good things come to those who HUSTLE.

1. Have a plan

Like my dad always says, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” This goes for everything in your life. Know what you want, and create a plan that will help you put your plans into motion. I suggest keeping it simple, and focus on one thing at a time.

2. Walk away from the television

Don’t sit around watching Hulu or Netflix,  or playing Facebook games, such a Farmville, just because you “can”. None of these activities will further your career, inspire your creative abilities, or expand your bank account.

3. Read more

Pick up a book everyday, and feed your brain with intellectual greatness. There are many benefits to reading so don’t hesitate to pick up a new book today.

Check out my list of recommendations here.

4. Don’t let doubt take over

Whether it is self-doubt, or those around you who try to discourage you due to jealousy or whatever the case may be, ignore it. Rise above any kind of doubt that enters your realm.

5. Build confidence

It starts by taking care of yourself, grooming yourself, dressing nicely, thinking positive, and blocking out negative thoughts. Another way to build confidence is by getting to know yourself, and spending time alone to feel comfortable in your own skin.

6. Live in the moment

In this moment is all we have; soak it up, embrace every emotion, feeling and vision.

7. Be prepared

Life has the tendency to throw us some face pitched, curve balls. If you are prepared in life you will have less to worry about.

8. Never stop learning

Community colleges offer a variety of online courses that you can take from the comfort of your home. There is never an excuse not to be striving for personal growth. Take an art class, or pick up that instrument that you’ve procrastinated playing for a while now.

9. Stop letting people take advantage of you

Don’t be afraid to say NO. Don’t be afraid to stand up for what you believe in, what you want, and what you know. If you think you have a better idea than what has been presented to you, bring it up, talk about it.

If you’re not feeling well, but you told a friend you’d go out, don’t be afraid to put your health first and stay in. If you don’t have enough money to drive to an event with friends, speak up and have someone else be the wheel woman/man. Don’t go broke, because your too shy to put your foot down.

10. Stay humble

Sure it’s easy to let all that success go to your head, but slow down for a minute. Think about where you came from. Think about how hard you worked to get to this point. Smile and be thankful, because it can all go away if you’re not careful.

11. Keep watch on your circle

Surround yourself with people who are hard workers and support your dreams and aspirations. Be careful who you invest your precious time in. Don’t allow negative energy to consume you or weigh you down. If someone brings too much drama or chaos to your life, move on.
